It was the weekend, good weather and my buddy was a few months into having this new Honda Ridgeline 4x4 that hasn't seen much more than a dusty dirt road or two. What shall we do?...... Let's try and see how muddy we can get! For the past few weekends my close friends had been romping up in a OHV area tucked up in the Azusa Canyon. We set a time and met up at the entrance to the OHV entrance. We got started mid day that Saturday. There was a about a dozen or so 4wheelers in the park and hand full of Army reserve guys putting around in Humvees. First we hit some of the hills the army were using to train the new guys on what the hummers could do. The sand was very fine and made some of the not so bad looking hills quit difficult to tackle
Next we hit the Mud. Unfortunately it wasn't as wet and deep as in previous weeks (or so i was told by the pictures). I was able to traverse all of the mud pits with relative ease. There were just a few spots i felt like if i didn't drive well I could have gotten stuck. First up was Adam and his Ridgeline.
He took a few laps in the main open mud pit area but cam back a little disappointed. I told him to try to be a little more aggressive in the turns and look for the deep stuff, after all we had two straps already hooked to our truck just in case. He went out again but still came back not too satisfied. It then occurred to me this new truck probably has a traction control system on board and hopefully a over ride button. He pulled in and we quickly found the button. He went out and suddenly all wheels were flying and he was really able to slide around and get the thing to get loose.
